The Everly Learning Support System is a three-tiered approach to training Direct Support Professionals. The first approach, the Engage level, provides an awareness and understanding of basic concepts and skills. The learner will be able to articulate the appropriate actions required to begin to support an individual with a disability. This level is known as the Direct Support Professional Orientation (DSPO).
The Enhance level, training topics are more in-depth and expand concept understanding and skill acquisition to augment the DSPO. Additional courses are in development such as Supported Decision-Making, Working with Families, Helping to Develop Relationships, Employment Services Introduction, Discovering and Exploring Preferences and Interests, and more.
The Exel level provides the advanced skill development of a direct support professional with a focus on leadership skill acquisition and application. Providing feedback and practice on the skills with coaching and feedback.
The Annual Training Program is made up of 13 lessons for approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes and is infused into the Direct Support Professional Orientation Program.
Direct Support Professional Orientation Program engages new staff with 17 courses and 52 lessons. Each lesson takes approximately 10-30 minutes for approximately 13 hours of training.
Direct Support Professional Enhancement Program augments the DSPO program and provides more advance information currently with 3 current courses and 9 lessons averaging 15 -30 minutes each. This program and courses are in development such as Supported Decision-Making, Working with Families, Helping to Develop Relationships, Employment Services Introduction, Discovering and Exploring Preferences and Interests and more.
Training and Technical Assistance will be provided to the organization’s trainers and supervisors providing feedback and support to the DSPs in the application of skills.
